In service

The Bombardier Global Express entered service in 1997 as the first business jet designed from the outset for genuinely non-stop intercontinental range, 5,965 nm with 13 passengers in a widebody 40'3" cabin. Powered by BMW/Rolls-Royce BR710A1-10 engines and Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics, the Global Express created an entirely new category and set the benchmark against which all subsequent ultra-long-range jets are measured. Approximately 135 were delivered.

Why charter it

The case for the Global Express.

A pedigree that reassures

As a Bombardier product the Global Express brings a respected name and a worldwide support network, reassurance that matters as much to charter clients as the cabin itself. Decades of service have wrung the surprises out of the design. Choosing the type is choosing a known, trusted quantity.

Quick where it counts

At roughly 513 knots, about Mach 0.90 the Global Express is quick for its class, and regular charter clients notice it first, because a faster jet quietly rewrites what fits into a single day. The same pace shortens exposure to turbulence and keeps schedules honest into congested airspace. For anyone whose time carries a real cost, it pays for itself.

Systems that smooth the journey

Avionics matter more than passengers realise, and the Global Express is well found, with Honeywell Primus 2000 (dual EFIS, dual FMS, TCAS II, TAWS) giving the crew the tools for confident approaches into short, high or busy airports. Automation trims workload, and a rested crew flies a smoother, more punctual charter. That margin is part of why the aircraft dispatches so reliably.

Engineered to just work

Reliability is why we place clients on the Global Express: powered by 2× BMW/Rolls-Royce BR710A1-10 (14,750 lbf each), it is a mature, well-supported design, and the smoothest charter is always the one that leaves on schedule. Redundant systems and a deep global spares network keep aircraft-on-ground surprises rare. When a trip has to happen, it is the sort of aircraft you bet on.

The story behind the type

Worth knowing: The original Global Express was the clean-sheet jet that first made nonstop New York to Tokyo a business-aviation reality, launching the ultra-long-range class. Details like that are why the type has such a loyal following.

Runway access that saves miles

Airport flexibility is a real advantage of the Global Express: it slips into tight, close-in runways that larger jets must overfly, turning a long transfer into a short one. With slots easier to secure at private terminals, departures stay on your clock rather than an airline's. Few things make a charter feel more private than watching the type taxi straight to the FBO door.

The honest view

Where the Global Express asks a compromise on charter:

A design with proven, not brand-new, roots

The Global Express is a mature, thoroughly sorted design rather than the newest sheet of metal, which is a strength for reliability but means the very latest cabin gadgetry may sit a generation back. For charter clients who value dependability over novelty that is rarely a real loss.

Push it to the edge of its range with a full cabin and, like any aircraft, the Global Express trims its numbers, so we plan payload and fuel honestly rather than to the brochure.

As alternatives to the Global Express, it is worth weighing the Global Express XRS and the Global 6000, both able aircraft in the same bracket. Broadly the Global Express XRS tends to charter for a little less, while the Global Express has the stronger short-field manners, so the right pick comes down to your exact route, party and budget, which our advisors are glad to lay out side by side.

In short, few aircraft do long-haul and intercontinental charter as gracefully as the Global Express, and where it is the right tool we place it on fully vetted, certified partners at a fixed all-in price, with an answer back inside 30 minutes.

Global Express, your questions answered

How much does it cost to charter the Bombardier Global Express?+
Charter pricing for the Bombardier Global Express typically runs from around EUR 8,500 to 13,000 per flight hour, with the final figure shaped by your routing, dates, aircraft positioning and ground time. As a heavy jet it sits in the corresponding bracket, and in our experience arranging Bombardier Global Express charters a well-timed one-way or off-peak booking is often far more competitive than clients expect. Share your route and we return a firm, all-in price within 30 minutes.
What is the range of the Bombardier Global Express, and which routes can it fly nonstop?+
The Bombardier Global Express has a range of roughly 5,965 nautical miles (11,047 km), enough to fly Geneva to Cape Town, nonstop without a fuel stop. In real operations we plan a little conservatively, since headwinds and a full cabin trim usable range, but on the sectors our clients fly most the Bombardier Global Express reliably turns a two-stop itinerary into a single, seamless hop.
How many passengers can the Bombardier Global Express carry?+
The Bombardier Global Express seats up to 13 guests. For longer flights we usually suggest booking a seat or two below the maximum, which frees space to spread out, work and sleep, and we configure every cabin to the party, whether that is a family, a board or a couple who simply want the whole aircraft to themselves.
How fast is the Bombardier Global Express, and how long do typical flights take?+
The Bombardier Global Express cruises at about 513 knots (950 km/h), around Mach 0.90. In practice that is roughly 1h 21m over 1,000 km and about 4h 31m over 4,000 km. Speed is where this aircraft quietly earns its keep, routinely saving our clients an hour or more against slower types, time handed back at either end of the day.
What is the cabin of the Bombardier Global Express like?+
Step aboard the Bombardier Global Express and the first impression is space and quiet: roughly 6 ft 3 in of headroom, a cabin pressurised and insulated so conversation stays easy and engine noise fades into the background. We find guests consistently step off a Bombardier Global Express flight noticeably fresher than they would from a comparable commercial trip.
How much luggage can the Bombardier Global Express carry?+
The Bombardier Global Express offers about 195 cubic feet of baggage volume, comfortably around 39 large suitcases plus soft bags, and in our experience it swallows skis, golf clubs and a pram without drama. We confirm the exact hold capacity for your specific aircraft and party at the time of booking.
Which airports can the Bombardier Global Express use?+
As a heavy jet, the Bombardier Global Express can reach a very wide spread of airports, including shorter, more convenient runways closer to your final destination than the large hubs. We check runway length, altitude and slot availability for every departure and arrival so the aircraft lands as near to where you are going as possible.
On which frequent routes is the Bombardier Global Express chartered?+
The Bombardier Global Express is chartered on a wide spread of city pairs. Popular capital-to-capital routes well within its 5,965 nm reach include Jeddah to Riyadh, Antalya to Rome, Rome to Los Angeles and Bahrain to New York. We fly it on hundreds of other sectors too, so tell us your route and we will confirm the aircraft and a firm all-in price.
How does the Bombardier Global Express compare to other heavy jets?+
Against other heavy jets such as the Global Express XRS and the Global 6000, the Bombardier Global Express stands out for its balance of range, cabin comfort and real-world reliability. There is rarely a single best jet, only the best jet for a given route and party, and our advisors are happy to lay the options side by side so you can choose on the facts.
Is the Bombardier Global Express a good choice for long-haul, intercontinental travel?+
Yes. With about 5,965 nautical miles of range, the Bombardier Global Express is genuinely built for intercontinental travel, linking continents nonstop. On the longest legs we plan fuel, winds and payload carefully, and where a nonstop is marginal we say so honestly and propose the smoothest single stop rather than promise the impossible.
What engines power the Bombardier Global Express, and how reliable is it?+
The Bombardier Global Express is powered by 2× BMW/Rolls-Royce BR710A1-10 (14,750 lbf each). It runs the Honeywell Primus 2000 (dual EFIS, dual FMS, TCAS II, TAWS) avionics suite. It is a mature, well-supported design, and reliability is exactly why we place clients on it, because the smoothest charter is the one that departs on time and arrives without a second thought.
Can I bring my pets on board the Bombardier Global Express?+
Yes. Pets fly in the cabin beside you on the Bombardier Global Express, never in a hold, and in our experience this is one of the main reasons families choose private in the first place. We brief you well ahead on microchip, vaccination and paperwork for your specific route so boarding is effortless.
At what altitude does the Bombardier Global Express cruise, and why does that matter?+
The Bombardier Global Express cruises as high as 51,000 feet. Flying above most weather and commercial traffic means a smoother, quieter ride and more direct routings, and a lower effective cabin altitude is a large part of why guests arrive feeling rested rather than drained.
Is there a more affordable way to charter the Bombardier Global Express?+
Often, yes. Empty-leg and one-way pricing on the Bombardier Global Express can be a fraction of a standard round trip when your dates are flexible, and off-peak departures help too. We watch live availability and flag genuine heavy jet opportunities the moment they appear.
